3D Screening Mammogram Appointments
Who should get a screening mammogram?
If you are a woman over the age of 40, it is recommended that you have a breast screening EVERY year as long as you are in good health.
If you are experiencing any breast issues such as discomfort, lumps, discharge, or redness and swelling, you should talk to your doctor before scheduling a screening exam. You may required a diagnostic exam rather than a screening exam.
Who might need a breast ultrasound?
If you feel a lump in your breast, or one shows up on your mammogram, your provider may recommend an ultrasound. A breast ultrasound produces detailed images of breast tissue. It can reveal if the lump is a fluid-filled cyst (usually not cancerous) or a solid mass that needs more testing.
Talk with your provider if you think a breast ultrasound may be right for you. An order is required for this exam.
